Daily Zen
What if someone from your real life found out your blog? Would you a) move to another blog site, change your name & start all over again, b) let it be, hoping that someone would keep it to her/himself, & continue to write, or c) just simply quit writing? Give reason to whichever option you choose to do.

I would keep on writing. It's not like I have anything real personal here. I would probably enlist them into assisting me by taking on a reading challange and recording their progress here with me. At the very least I would insist upon them giving me suggestions of titles I can read.

Okay, I can't give up my reference books. I was going to concentrate on reading novels, short stories, biographies, etc and not include reference books on my list of 100 books, but I can't do it. I took the kids to the library yesterday and didn't get one novel. Nope, all reference books for me. I speed read reference and self-help books, so I can easily read 1-2 a day, but that means that the novel I'm currently reading didn't get read yesterday. I won't get through 50 books this way, so I'm re-doing the rules. That's the nice thing about this undertaking, I can make, change, ignore or re-write the rules to suit me. Even though I am going to include reference books, I will only include the ones that I don't speed read. Deal? Good.

Daily Zen
If you could choose the ultimate "perfect day" what would you do? Where would you go? Who would you spend the day with?
Before I had kids I would have this perfect dream of rolling in the grass with my lover while the wind gently blew through my hair. I'm not interested in that crap anymore. Rolling in the hay is what got me the two kids, so my perfect days ended up with lifelong consequences. So my perfect day now would be reminiscent of the final couple days of pregnancy with my oldest child. I was on maternity leave, too pregnant to do anything, all my friends and family worked during the day, so I laid around catching up on my soaps and reading books. I was reading 4-6 books a week. Pure bliss.

I'm looking for some weekly memes, besides the normal Friday Five or This-or-That Tuesday. Anyone know of any I can try?

3 for Thursday (#29)

Pet Peeves

1. What are 3 silly pet peeves you have?
People who talk really loudly in restaurants. People who use cell phones while catching the bus. People who try to carry on conversations when I'm obviously otherwise engaged.
2. What are 3 things that drive you nuts that shouldn't?
Stupid people (most of them can't help it), people who protest who aren't fully aware of what they're protesting for or against (who cares what they do), feet (it's an irrational fear, but I hate feet
3. What are 3 things that you've seen others go nuts over that you can't help but laugh because its so silly?
My nephew has been known to bury and dig up dead animals, come in the house and will try to sit at the table without washing his hands, but will refuse to use the glass you drank out of because of the germs.
BONUS: Has a pet peeve of yours ever caused you to be really embarrassed? If so, what happened?
I'm not obsessive, so it never gets to the point of embarrasment. Thank Gawd!

My daily zen: What is the best thing about rainy days?
Rain is very erotic. I love to make love while I hear the rain gently beat on the window pane, but since I am currently single, the best thing about rainy days is sleeping.

I've made a decision to read 100 books by December 31, 2003. In years past this would be nothing, but I am now a mother with responsibilities like rent, gas and keeping my kids clothed and fed. So now reading often takes a back seat to being an adult or vegging out in front of the TV at the end of the day. I feel like my mind is slipping away from me. When I read I felt alive and as if I was not only feeding my mind, but also my soul. I miss that feeling. So I am going to read 100 books and record my progress here. Most of the books I read will not be on anyones list of the greatest books of all time, that's not the point I'm trying to make. I just want to get back into the habit. I do want to read at least 5 classics and 5 autobiographies/biographies each. I'm not including self-help, decorating, how-to, or cookbooks in my list. Wish me luck seeing how I've already lost almost 5 months for not thinking of this sooner. Damn.

I'm looking for some really good books to read. Any suggestions?
