I've been reading a lot lately. Here are some highlights:

Bet Me- Jennifer Crusie
I tried to read one of her books before and just couldn't get into it. I was hooked on this one from the beginning. It was truly enjoyable Chick Lit. Some romance books are just plain stupid and I feel like I have to turn my brain off to read them, this one not so bad. It won't be the subject of a thesis I'm sure, but the characters weren't plain dumb. Maybe I'll try to read her again.

Clay's Ark- Octavia Butler
I was very sad when Ms Butler died earlier this year. She is an extremly gifted writer. I don't know anyone who has read her work and didn't love it. Denise was reading Kindred at stop lights while driving. Her's is the only science fiction I'm drawn to. I've noticed a re-occurring theme in her books with the human struggle with identity and control with the alien species (which I guess would only make sense with this genre-duh!), but I still love them. I read this one in less than a day. With Ms Butler gone, Star Trek will be my only voyages into sci-fi.

The House on Olive Street- Robyn Carr
I got this from the Free Store (where I volunteer with my church once a month) and truly thought it would be one that I would start and stop over and over possibly never to be finished, but surprisingly I really enjoyed it. I missed a couple of segments on the news and maybe let the baby cry a tad bit longer than normal so that I could get to a good stopping point. As I was reading, I just kept thinking that I could picture this being made into a movie. If I see her name again, I will definitely try another one of her books.

Lean Mean Thirteen- Janet Evanovich
Another Stephanie Plum caper. I love these books and never want them to end. My only disappointment is that I'm up to #13 and have to wait for her to write #14(how long does it take to write a book anyways?!). You just don't get any better than this. I have to read these at home so I don't embarass myself laughing out loud in public. If you just want to sit back and relax and be entertained, read her books.

I've also read recently:
Beautylicious!- Jenyne M. Raines
I Left My Back Door Open- April Sinclair
Judge & Jury- James Patterson and Andrew Gross
Samson- Ellen Gunderson Traylor
Smitten- Janet Evanovich
Missing- Jasmine Cresswell
Living By the Book- Howard and William Hendricks
Aristotle Would Have Loved Oprah- Ethel Diamond
Four Play- Jane Moore
Let Prayer Change Your Life- Becky Tirabassi
Cross- James Patterson
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- JK Rowling
Suspect- Jasmine Cresswell

I'm always taking suggestions for books to read. I read alot of cozy mysteries, but I really do enjoy all types of books and am always looking for something to take me out of the genre that I fall back in when I don't know what else to read.
